Most of us know exactly what to do (or say) when we are being criticized, but we have no clue how to respond to a kind word of praise or acknowledgement. We either shrink back and fail to accept the praise with grace and appreciation or we put it on top of our heads for all to see. Some people would even use the praise to put others down. This is a completely wrong way of handling praise and recognition.
How must we handle praise? What to say and what not to say
AS A RULE OF THUMB, WE ARE NOT TO BE PROUD WHEN WE ARE PRAISED, OR GIVEN RECOGNITION FOR OUR GOOD WORK/DEEDS.
We are to receive PRAISEgraciously and thank the source without being boastful. In other words, do not say something like: ‘I am always very good’ or ‘I did that without any help from anybody’. Acknowledge and properly thank the person praising you – remember that being able to give praise and recognition is in itself not an easy thing for a lot of people and someone who has no problem with that deserves to be thanked.
