I struggled a lot with introductions, probably because I normally would calm down and start to speak confidently when the introduction had already passed and I'm already into the body of the speech! I think most of us are like this - the nerves prior to speaking and at the beginning of our speech would rob us of making that all important first impression and to capitalise on the allure of a grand opening.

Introductions are to be prepared for and to be taken very seriously in any address. The body is nothing without the head.
